  • Amir and Butt should be given the same punishment

    0

So out comes another alleged revelation. It has been said by a few newspapers and news agency that Mohammad Amir, who was involved in bowling ‘those’ no-balls had apparently broken down in front of the PCB chairman Ejaz Butt and even the manager Yawar Saeed.

Amir had said that he bowled the no-balls because Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif had forced him to do so. Otherwise he would have never done so.

As expected, the Pakistan board, as innocent as its players, has denied the incident.

But seriously, is Amir a kid? Tomorrow somebody will ask him to murder someone, will he use the same escape line? Or does he think that those around him will get influenced by his crocodile tears and pardon him?

It is clear. If the trio is found guilty, Amir and Butt need to be given the same punishment, while Mohammad Asif should be banned for life. The reason is simple; both Amir and Butt have been implicated for the first time, while Asif has been repeatedly towing the line with his various offences. Case closed.

  • The better team won the Champions League T20

    0

Chennai is the winner! Playing quality cricket right through the duration of the Champions League T20, the Super Kings clinched the tournament with a superlative performance in the final of the tournament to beat the Warriors.

Chennai Super Kings’ success in the tournament was based on team-effort and this can be seen as follows.

In the six games that the side played in the tournament, Suresh Raina scored an 80 and a 90, Murali Vijay finished with most runs in the tournament, Hussey carved out a couple of fifties, Srikkanth and Badrinath contributed against the Stags with match-turning innings, Dhoni was an inspirational leader, Murali and Ashwin finished one-two in the bowing list, Doug Bollinger and Morkel got the ball to swing around and picked their wickets, while Balaji was one of the more economical bowlers.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, they depended on one batsman and two bowlers – captain Davy Jacobs, Juan Theron and Johan Botha. None of the others did much, and till these three performed, the side won the games. In the final, Jacobs did provide a quick start but could not carry on, while the bowlers did not have much to play with.

Fair to say, the better team won the competition.

  • Steyn injury leaves Bangalore in pain

    0

Anil Kumble must have thought he was writing one of those essays he must have written at his primary school, the Holy Saint English School in Bangalore when he took to the field against the Chennai Super Kings for the first semi final.

First, rain threatened to wash out the game, which would’ve meant that Chennai would’ve advanced to the finals thanks to a superior performance in the group stages.

When the rain stopped, an incredible catch by Dale Steyn was mourned instead of celebrated as the South African pace man had to be carried out on a stretcher ruining the plans of unleashing the quick bowler against Chennai’s middle order.

Suresh Raina then took control, to add to Bangalore’s misery and showcased one of the better T20 knocks by scoring a brilliant 94*.

Needing 175 to win in a rain shortened 17 over game, Bangalore certainly had the fire power to get there but they lost Dravid, Uthappa and Taylor within the first four overs.

Kohli wasn’t able to repeat his heroics from earlier in the tournament too and Bangalore slipped to a 51 run loss, the margin lessened by a spending innings from Manish Pandey.
